Education

Ms. Cheng earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Saint Mary’s College of California and a Masters of Public Administration from the California State University in Northridge.

Early Career

Misty V. Cheng didn’t simply start as a staffing provider for municipalities, her career began at a CPA firm in the mid-1990’s auditing cities and special districts.

She crossed to the other side and began working for cities as an accountant.

Her dedication, work ethics, and drive were quickly noticed and she became the youngest “Director of Finance” to ever hold such a position.

She held the director of finance and administrative services position for a few years, her responsibilities included overseeing finance, purchasing, human resources, and risk management.

In 2008, Ms. Cheng branched out on her own and assisted cities, counties, and special districts as either interim or a contracted finance director.

The demand quickly increased with staffing requests at various levels in finance, purchasing, and human resources. Ms. Cheng incorporated her staffing firm in 2014 and MV Cheng & Associates Inc. began.
